Below are two example IAs from the IB. The chief examiner has also provided feedback about the marks each received - use both to help you to identify how marks are awarded. It is important to note that these exemplars do not follow MLA 7.

3. Choosing a Topic & Research
a) How to choose a topic. Follow a process:
i) Locate a good topic - if you are unclear, browse the resources below for inspiration...
ii) Do some reading - can you locate a range of sources?
iii) What significant issues have arisen? Frame a specific question - perhaps the phrasing frame (see b) will help. You must run this by your teacher before you proceed.
iv) Research using the frame below - keep your notes focused, relevant and connected.
